How to Choose Your Next Read

Choosing your next book can be an overwhelming task, especially with so many options out there. But fear not, dear reader! By understanding your reading preferences and style, you can easily narrow down your choices and find the perfect book to dive into. Let's explore how you can choose your next read based on the type of reader you are.

Do you like being kept on the edge of your seat?

If you love heart-pounding suspense and plot twists that keep you on the edge of your seat, then thrillers are the way to go. Look for books with gripping storylines, unexpected twists, and a fast pace that will keep you turning the pages late into the night. Some authors within this genre include James Patterson, Karen Slaughter, J.D Barker, Lee Child and Harlan Coben. 

Do you enjoy getting lost in magic and new worlds?

If you crave magic, mythical creatures, and epic adventures, then fantasy books are your best bet. Dive into worlds filled with dragons, wizards, and quests that will transport you to far-off lands and ignite your imagination. Some of my favourite fantasy authors are Sarah J. Maas, Rebecca Yarros, Christine Feehan, Leigh Bardugo and R.L Perez. 

Do you prefer the old days?

If you enjoy delving into the past and learning about different time periods, historical fiction might be your cup of tea. Look for books set in specific eras or events that pique your interest, and get ready to immerse yourself in rich historical detail. Some amazing authors include Philippa Gregory, Bryce Courtenay and Ken Follett. 

Do you love stories that warm your heart and give you butterflies?

If you're a sucker for love then romance is the genre for you! Seek out books that explore complex relationships, inner struggles, and maybe even some light comedy. My personal favourite romance authors are Jane Austen, Julia Quinn, Nora Roberts and Nicholas Sparks. 

Or do you just read everything and anything?

There are many authors out there that delve into more than one genre in their writing, which is called 'genre-blending'. One of the most popular genres is Romantasy - the combination of fantasy and romance! You also get combined genres such as:

• Romance + Mystery/Thriller
• Historical Fiction + Horror 
• Thriller + Fantasy
